Elizabeth x Ciel: Love Stroy Chapt. 2

Years have passed. It's my 18th birthday. Lots of things have happened during these years. I've grown as a person and I have at least revealed my true self to my dear Ciel. After that sea trip I started to work as Ciel's personal guard when my mother granted me permission for that. I was a good guard: no one ever suspects the cute one to be the badass.
Well, Ciel. He has grown up, too. He is now taller than me and he no more uses high heeled shoes. He is also very handsome and the other girls have started to notice him too. I'm jealous about him, even though we are engaged to be married.
Or were, until my dad found out about Ciel's "work". He had suspected that Ciel had something to do with the underworld, but after I got almost kidnapped and then hurt myself pretty badly, my dad told me that my relationship with any Phantomhive family member would be over.
Few days later the engagement of Lady Elizabeth Middleford and Earl Ciel Phantomhive was officially over.

I didn't cry in front of my father, but when I went to my room after dinner that day, I walked to my room's balcony and cried silent tears. I love Ciel, I had loved him since our childhood and I would love him and him only to my death. For him I could easily leave my family, even Edward and mother, and just run away. The problem was that I wasn't sure about his feelings. I had never asked. Always every marriage in our land was arranged by parents and our engagement wasn't exception.
Ciel and I were good friends when we were little. He laughed a lot and I was happy that I made him laugh. I loved to hear him laughing. But then the worst happened, and nothing was like it was before.
Ciel had acted so coldly and seriously after his parents' death and in spite of my persistent and exaggerated attempts to make him laugh he never did. His servants, even the butler Sebastian sometimes laughed at me, but from Ciel I got only a sad smile-like expression.

I couldn't really enjoy the party this summer. Sun was shining and birds were singing, but in my world it was cold, grey and silent. It had been only a month since dad had thrown Ciel out, literally. I wasn't in a mood for a party, but my mother and my brother's wife insisted that there should be a party, it would cheer me up. It didn't.
I didn't know any of the guests, except for a couple of girls my age. They were annoying, acting like they were sorry for me but behind my back they were fighting about who would become the new fiancé of rich Earl Phantomhive. It hurt my heart like a knife.
Somebody pulled my sleeve. I looked down.
"Lady Elizabeth, please eat something", Paula's child, Nancy, asked. Paula had married our chef André about three years ago, and this two year old miracle was their first child.
"I'll take that brown cookie, thank you", I answered and the girl gave me a bunny cookie. She smiled and ran to her mother, who was smiling motherly to her.
I sighted and decided to go to sleep, I would plead headache if someone asked. In my room I threw myself on my bed. From there I saw the white walls and my make up desk and a shelf where were still al my stuffed animals. I got up and picked a bunny from the shelf. It had an eye patch. I had got it from Ciel four years ago as a birthday present. I hugged it and took it with me in the bed and I fell asleep.

I woke up, when I heard something rustling against my window. I thought for a minute I had heard nothing, but then I heard it again. I got up and walked to the window. I thought I saw something and opened the balcony door.
"Lizzy, is it you?" a sound came from the darkness. My heart leaped with joy.
"Ciel?"
"If you can, come to the garden. I'll wait for you in the third part, near the midsummer roses. I'll wait for you there ten minutes" I heard him say.
"Y-yes", I answered, but he was gone already. I picked my dresses hems and kicked my shoes of. I would be barefoot so no one could hear me. I decided also use the servants' stairway, the only one who could see me there this late was Paula and she would understand.

I managed to get out. It was a bit cold even though it was summer. The whole manor was dark and at first I didn't see anything. When my eyes got used to the darkness, I ran across the garden. I didn't see the light that was lit in one of the bedrooms of our house.
"Ciel, where are you?" I whispered when I reached the third part of our garden. I listened but heard nothing but silence. Suddenly I felt somebody standing right behind me. I was ready to hit.
"You don't want to do that, or want you?" I heard the familiar voice. I was so happy I could have screamed.
"Ciel, it's really you!" I jumped in his arms. I hugged him and the first time in my life I felt him hugging me back.
"Happy birthday", he said and gave me a box, "for a girl in her best age."
I giggled.
"What's inside?"
"You'll see when you go inside. Did your father wake up?"
"I don't think so; I was the only one awake."
"That's good", Ciel said and sighted.
"Listen, there is something I wanted to talk you about…" he sounded shy. I was a bit confused; I had never heard that tone in his voice before.
"That engagement thing, I didn't want it. I didn't care about getting married older or building a family. I have my… own purposes which make that almost impossible to me".
I listened silently and interested. What purposes?
"But, as I was saying… I want you to know that I'm not getting engaged with anyone anymore. Don't hear what those stupid chickens talk. If I was to marry someone, it would definitely not be one of them. The only one I care about…" He stopped. I didn't know what to say.
"It would be better if I take you back to the house now. Sebastian is waiting for me." He then said and took my hand, taking me closer to my home. Near the stairs he only kissed my hand and turned around.
"Ciel, wait…" I said, and he turned back to me. I tried to find his face in the darkness.
I looked in his eyes, or in his eye, the other one was covered with a patch like usually… But how I could see him in the darkness?
"You two idiots!" I heard a voice behind me.
"Father!" I whispered and turned to Ciel.
"He has seen you!"
Ciel wasn't quick enough. My father had run down the stairs in a second and my mother was right behind him. She grabbed my shoulders and tried to take me inside.
"No!" I screamed.
"If I ever see you near my daughter again, I'll cut your head off!" father shouted to Ciel, who was almost crawling backwards away from my father,
"If you come here again, I'll kill you!" he continued his threatening.  I was sitting in the stairs and crying.
"Father, don't! Ciel!"
But Ciel ran away, my mother took me to my room and I heard that my father locked the door outside. I cried, cried and cried. I heard that my father told my mother that I should be sent outside London because of "that boy". If they decided to do that, I would kill myself.
Someone knocked to the balcony door. I knew right away who it was and opened the door.
"Lady Elizabeth, I'm sorry for this incident", Sebastian said and bowed.
"The Earl sent me here with this", he said and gave me the present.
"I found it near the stairs".
I looked at that tiny box and made a decision.
"Sebastian, could you deliver a message, please?" I asked. The butler nodded. I wrote a short message. "Dear Ciel. If I ever have meant anything to you, I want you to come here again in Thursday evening. Let's run away, for that night only. I have something I want to tell you. I'll wait you in the woods near the road, next to that old oak. Yours, Elizabeth." I gave the message to Sebastian. He walked next to the door and turned around.
"I'm very sorry for you two", he said and looked really sad. Before I had a chance to say anything, he had disappeared into the darkness.
